When I was making this painting, I was thinking about war and specifically Russia’s War in Ukraine, Hamas’s attack on Israel and the taking of hostages and Israel’s attack on Gaza in retaliation. In each instance the aggression was heinous, random, brutal, leaving nowhere to run, nowhere to hide for innocent civilians. Lives have been upended and shattered.

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide by Dawn Shifreen-Pomerantz, M.F.T.
