• Richard Schnap

Richard Schnap was born in Buffalo, New York and educated at Oberlin and Vassar Colleges, The University of Pittsburgh and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. A poet, songwriter, musician and collagist, his works make statements and commentaries on 21st century society, focusing at times on the plight of the individual. Drawing on the methodologies of Dada, Surrealism, Magic and Social Realism, Minimalism, and Pop, his imagery feels akin to stills from imaginary films, where viewers are encouraged to create their own impressions from the works, ranging from the specific to the abstract.
